Giving away free bed bug treatments

This season Mark’s the 3rd year we offered a struggling family a free bed bug treatment. Each year around the holidays we review our applications and decide what family to pick for this service. Many of these families are young couples with children and have been battling bed bugs for months. The bed bugs are usually so bad that the families result into throwing everything out. By the time we get there they have nothing but an empty room full of blood thirsty insects. Its always heartbreaking seeing these situations, I remember as a child my family struggled with controlling cockroaches, today roaches are 100 times easier to control than bed bugs. Most families result in trying many over the counter products that are not effective enough to control a population such as DE dust, Alcohol spray, and flea and bed bug sprays from the supermarket. By the time we receive a call to get rid of bed bugs all of these products are lying throughout the house. We use a proven system and products that work, which allows Prudential to give a 3 month warranty with our bed bug extermination services, better yet we use a new treatment method using spores that will stay around to protect your family even if they are brought in after the treatment.

Even with the success of our bed bug program we don’t get nearly the applications as we should for this free service. Prudential typically completes 3-7 paid bed bug services a week, but only receives less than 5 applications per year. We leave our application form available all year to maximize the number of applicants and even promote it with paid advertising through Facebook, but still manage to see very few applications for a free bed bug service. It may seem like leaving the applications open all year and only choosing an applicatant during the holidays may be a long time but many homes that pay for treatments often had bed bug issues for 6 months or longer. We would like to expand our reach and get more inquiries each year but while paid service are increasing each year the applications remain flat.
